Announcing my latest blogging endeavor:

Shut Him Up Already! – Promoting Marital Harmony by Taking the Rants Elsewhere

Here is the first post from this new blog, which explains its’ existance.

So why have I decided to create a blog called “Shut Him Up Already”?  Having recently jumped onto the social media bandwagon by establishing a facebook presence, it soon became apparent that the facebook venue provides little in the way of control of ones’ content,  and even less control in the format  with which it is presented.  Beyond this, I had to examine what purpose my facebook visage would serve.  The answer (for me, anyhow) is to provide an additional conduit for the friendly exchange of news and information between family and friends.  Alas, as we all know, political, financial, and economic discourse in our current political climate can rarely be characterized as “friendly” – indeed, many a relationship has been soured by the injection of strong personal viewpoints into the equation.  How one aligns oneself on issues such as Modern Monetary Theory or the proper scope of government should not affect ones’ interaction with family and friends.  And yet, it does.

 

Additionally, I maintain another blog, Ranch Ramblins, which is my feeble attempt to share a sense of what it is like to be an urbanite transplanted into an isolated, rural community.  But again, the Ranch Ramblins venue seems inappropriate to vent ones’ views on political and financial topics, and much more appropriate for the discussion of tractors, wildlife, farm life and the like.   The obvious solution – another blog!  And this is the genesis of “Shut Him Up Already”.  I can vent my spleen without risking alienating family and friends on facebook, and expound on topics that do not fit into the narrow confines of Ranch Ramblins.  So if you have any interest in serious debate on topical subjects, join me here.   I welcome comments, and will use my dictatorial editing power with discretion.  All I ask of commentators is the same as what I demand of myself:

 

1)   NO FLAMING – Honest discussion of opposing points of view do not necessitate personal attacks or vitriol.  Comments along these lines WILL be deleted.  After all, who amongst us can be so certain of their position that they are in a position to pass judgement on all others?

 

2)   While I am not from Missouri, I do live within miles of the state – so SHOW ME!  Provide links to factual and scholarly sources of information whenever possible.  Any position becomes much more plausible when supported by more than a hunch.  If you find yourself disagreeing with something I have said, by all means point it out.  If at all possible, show me factually where I have erred.  I  just might change my opinion!

 

3)  ENJOY THE BLOG and keep a proper prospective.   Life is too short to be aggravated by the babbling of a narcissistic blogger situated in the middle of the Ozarks!
